Take Amazing Photos in the Smoky Mountains

In uploading my pictures from an especially scenic trip, I often find that I can never quite capture on a camera just what I saw in person. Of course, this is the case because in person I have taken in the entire experience—sights, smells, sounds, and the atmosphere of where I am. All of these components play a part in the image that we keep in our heads of a specific place. But I still love taking pictures of the places I visit, because pictures take us back. They not only serve as amazing art, but also as literal snapshots

Alewine Pottery in Gatlinburg TN

At the age of 19, Robert Alewine began doing something that no one else around him was doing – making pots. His love for art began early, but it wasn't until he made a pot in a college art class that he realized his true talent and passion. During the 1970s he studied with renowned artists Bob Munro, Charles Counts and Lewis Snyder. After his move to Gatlinburg, TN, in 1983, he began creating a name for himself, and over the years, his own work has developed into some of the most sought after pottery in the area. With an

Visit Gatlinburg’s Farmers Market

One of my favorite things to do on nice days during the spring, summer, and fall is to spend the morning at the Farmers Market. While I'm no master chef, I do enjoy learning to cook new things, and I particularly love working with local, fresh ingredients. Fresh ingredients make a home cooked meal even better, and buying local is great for your community. Every Saturday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am (May 19th through October 13th), the Gatlinburg Farmers Market is open to the public in the Alamo Steakhouse parking lot. At the market, visitors and locals will find
