Elegant furnishings plus cabin charm meet retro touches and modern conveniences throughout On the River, a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom, pet-friendly cabin mere steps away from the Little Pigeon River in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This peaceful waterfront property for 2 not only offers direct access to the serene river but also a long list of great amenities to keep you relaxed and having fun.
Enjoy a screened-in deck with an outdoor hot tub and rocking chairs, a fully equipped galley kitchen, a cozy living area with a big screen TV and stone fireplace, a relaxed reading nook and mini library, a large tiled rain shower, and a spacious bedroom with a soothing copper tub and comfy king-size bed. Combining these great amenities with an optimal location less than 1 mile from downtown attractions, On the River is an ideal escape — perfect for romantic weekends away, an unforgettable honeymoon, or extended anniversary vacations.
Living Room Step into the inviting living room, featuring a plush sofa, matching recliner, big screen TV, and stone gas fireplace. The light wood flooring and ceiling complement the dark walls in between, and the stylish décor and an antler chandelier pair well with the cream tables and patterned area rug. Snuggle with your spouse and a soft throw on the sofa, pop in a drama DVD for movie night, or curl up with a romance novel by a toasty fire. Oh, and don’t forget the lounge area nearby, boasting cushioned seating, a mini library, and lovely river views. It’s the perfect place to unwind with a good book, update social media, chat with your honey, or sip champagne.
Kitchen A bright contrast to the warm living area, the galley kitchen is fully equipped, providing all the appliances, tools, dishware, and prep space you’ll need for homemade meals. Home to mint-green, retro-style appliances, a white farmhouse sink, open wood shelving, plus stainless-steel touches, whipping up tasty dishes, in-between-meal munchies, and midnight snacks in this kitchen will be a piece of cake…which you can bake at the cabin or bring back from town. Hot breakfasts on the stove, fresh veggies and fruits from the fridge, steaming cups of joe from the coffeemaker, parmesan-topped popcorn from the microwave, and a dishwasher to take care of the mess — the kitchen at On the River sure does deliver!
Dining Area Just off the kitchen lies the quaint dining area, harboring a woven rug, wooden table for 2, and a modern chandelier overhead. While dining on self-prepared meals, reheated leftovers from town, or delivery is good, why not go the extra mile for this romantic occasion and splurge on a private in-cabin chef? Or you could opt for a gift basket filled with goodies instead — yum! Either way, the dining space is sure to come in handy for delectable meals, card games, or checking emails.
Bedroom Ah, the spacious, restful bedroom awaits with chic furnishings, including a king-size bed with extra pillows, a copper tub, metallic chandeliers, and bedside lamps. There’s even a mounted flatscreen TV for entertainment. After exploring the area and hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you’ll enjoy a muscle-relaxing soak in the copper tub — add lavender-scented candles and calming tunes to really enhance the luxurious experience. Or maybe you’d prefer a wash in the tiled rain shower with room for 2. And the bathroom vanity with his-and-her sinks will make getting ready for town or bed a breeze.
Outdoor Spaces Picturesque to say the least, On the River boasts a top-notch riverfront location, making the great outdoors a place you’ll want to be throughout your Gatlinburg stay. After smooth travels along flat roads, pull up and park up to 3 vehicles (there’s room for a trailer) in the paved, motorcycle-friendly driveway, grab your suitcases, head 3 steps up into the cabin, and make yourself right at home.
On the screened-in deck, you’ll find a bubbly hot tub for relaxing riverfront soaks in addition to rocking chairs, which pair perfect with a glass of sweet tea in summer or a mug of hot cocoa in winter. Reconnect with nature on a deeper level as you head to the outdoor seating area, featuring cushioned Adirondack chairs with throw pillows, lush overhanging trees, and the rushing Little Pigeon River. Breathe in that fresh mountain air and listen to the sounds of wildlife as you unwind with a cup of coffee in the mornings. And don’t forget to fire up the charcoal grill for evening barbecues!
Other Amenities On the River has it all — and then some! Use the high-speed wireless internet to plug in for a bit, update social media, browse local deals, and check out our blog. "We travel a lot, and usually, pictures of properties don't tell the exact story. Not true here, every picture shown here was spot on and accurate. This is a cozy, romantic, rustic type cabin with all you could need or want. Location? Could not be better, step out back and watch the rapids of the flowing river, sit in the hot tub in the screened in porch and watch and listen to the river. Ready for the town? An easy walk to everything in Gatlinburg, whether it be dining or shopping. We visit the Smokies twice a year and have found our go to the cabin for future dates. The decor was lovely, the wifi, TV, and electronics top notch, but it's all about comfort and romance here. If any pictures told a story, the ones you'll see of this cabin are right on and you could not be disappointed. We look forward to our fall trip now, knowing we have already found the cabin of our choice! Perfect." Verified guest on 05/06/2019
Thank you so much for this raving review! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed On the River from the location to the coziness and decor. We are also delighted to hear you found your perfect cabin and can not wait to serve you again soon!
"This cabin looks just like it does in the photos! It’s so cute and fun to stay in. It’s super close to downtown and is super cozy." Verified guest on 04/11/2019
Thank you so much for this review! We are glad we could help with this vacation!
"We had a beautiful weekend. Our cabin "On The River" was full of BEAUTIFUL details and made our experience even more special. We absolutely loved the style and comfort of the entire place. Will definitely return soon!!"
"Loved On The River!! The cabin was great and Cabins for You was GREAT to work with! Can't wait to go back!"
"We travel a lot. Twice a year our destination is Gatlinburg. This time we wanted something riverside, yet still close to town. We decided on our cabin, "On the River" based on pictures and limited reviews. Upon arrival, we found every single picture we had seen were perfect in reality! This cabin screamed of decor, comfort, romance and location! It was nearly perfect. Cozy and comfortable sofa and recliner placed directly in front of the fireplace and big screen television. Dual sink bathroom with oversized 2 person shower with rain shower and individual shower heads. Very large bedroom with comfortable king size bed, plenty of drawer and closet space, and even a washer and dryer hidden in a closet. A custom deep water copper tub awaits you next to the door leading to the screened in porch. And that porch is to die for, 2 rockers and a 4 person hot tub provide the sights and sounds of the flowing mountain stream just outside to add to your relaxation and mountain feel. The kitchen is large with high end plates and utensils, not to mention the perfect retro appliances only add to the overall charm. Location is PERFECT! Not only is it directly on the stream, the walk to everything in Gatlinburg is easy whether it be dining, shopping, or playing. The cabin was very clean, well stocked and obviously loved in attention to detail. We encountered zero problems during our stay and the check in and check out process was a breeze. We travel with our 13 lb Havanese puppy and she loved it just as well and they even had a welcome kit for her. We have found our go to cabin now in Gatlinburg and look forward to many more stays there. I would highly recommend "On the River" and Cabins For You for your future stays and consideration."
"What a great spot to sit out in the yard and listen to and watch the river. Beautiful! So comfortable, with a large walk in shower and we slept great on the bed. Great location: quiet, but walking distance to trolley and shops and restaurants downtown. "
"We LOVED our stay with Cabins for You, they were so friendly, efficient and had an amazing response time to phone calls and emails when I had questions. I could not be more pleased with a rental company, the cabin was so clean, we even had a welcome bag waiting on us with all of our supplies, which was more than we've ever received anywhere else, we had supplies left over at the end of our stay and didn't have to use our own or go out and buy more. We ran into the inspector as we arrived and she was so friendly and made sure our place was clean and ready for us, turned on the a/c, we really felt welcomed! The before you come and after you leave videos were so helpful, everything was spelled out on what to expect and we got every email with the necessary directions and codes we needed. We couldn't have had a more pleasant stay and will definitely book with them again in the future. Every person we dealt with was professional, caring and friendly and assured we would be satisfied with our stay, and we were! Thanks Cabins for You for a wonderful stay in the Smokies, we loved the magnet picture frame and special tote along with the basket of snacks and a thank you card. You're the best!"
"You wont disappointed with a stay at this cabin on the river. Privacy, soothing sound of the river, quiet, comfortable quarters, washer and dryer and the hot tub and dual head shower make for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. far enough from downtown to get away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to enjoy going out and into town If that's your thing."
"This is my second time booking with this company. The website is very user friendly. They offer a large variety of cabins with great descriptions and pictures. If we had any issues at the cabin, customer service was always easy to get in touch with and a great help. Our cabin “on the river” was absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend this company for booking your cabin!"
"My husband and I stayed at On the River and the cabin was amazing. We didn’t want to leave. The staff at cabins for you is extremely helpful and friendly. We will be returning soon."
"We loved being in walking distance to restaurants and shops. Loved listening to the river right outside our window"
"It was even better than we had hoped for. The perfect get away."
"This is an amazing location an cabin! It had everything we needed for our 24th anniversary getaway. We could walk to locations in Gatlinburg that we wanted to visit or easily drive to our chosen hiking trails in the park. The hot tub was fabulous after our hiking experiences and the well equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare breakfast and an occasional dinner at the cabin. The window seat was a great place for my morning devotional reading or afternoon rest. We will definitely check out this cabin and Cabins For You again!
"This place is so cute! We loved it, the river is so peaceful to listen to at night!
"Loved this cute cabin! Everything about it was so nice."
"We had an amazing stay here! The cabin was very cozy and but spacious at the same time. The kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed. Check in was very easy and upon arrival, the cabin was extremely clean and all setup for our stay. Definitely would visit again in the future!"
"This cabin was so charming and relaxing! You can hear the river from inside in the most wonderful way. The bed was unbelievably comfortable as was the adorable book nook. Close enough to walk downtown, but in a lovely quiet area. Such a peaceful retreat, thankful to have found this cabin!"
"This cabin is absolutely beautiful! We went with the goal to continue our social distancing in nature near the river. This cabin provided just that. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and grilling outside (basic charcoal grill without a lid). Given the circumstances of our visit (during COVID19), there were not many other people staying in the cabins next door which allowed us to feel secluded; however, if you were to travel during normal tourist times, you will have neighbors very close by. This might be apparent by looking at the map or reading other reviews but this cabin is essentially in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg which may or may not be what you are looking for. Little side things to note when preparing for you stay: only 1 roll of toilet paper/paper towel is provided so if you have a stay longer than a day or two bring extra, salt and pepper is not included (don't let the shakers fool you), and there is no wine opener (multiple beer openers if that's your thing). To add on to a previous review, the river truly is tantalizing close. If you have intentions of fishing or wading into the river, the current is rapid in front of the cabin and there is approximately an 8 foot drop to it so you will have to travel to better spots to access it. That being said, it was absolutely wonderful to sit outside or in the hot tub and watch/listen to the river. Altogether, it was a beautiful, cozy, romantic cabin and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We will be copying some decor ideas for our own home!"
"We rented a small cabin called On The River....it is right by the Creek....you can walk down town to Gatlinburg, has seating out by the Creek, had a grill, hot tub on a screened in porch with two rockers...had a king bed- that was very comfortable....very clean....loved the Kitchen & had alot of Windows to look out at the Creek!! We will stay here again...we have rented from Cabins For you several times....they were great to work with & if I had a question they got right back to me....so our experience was GREAT!! Also it was pet friendly..so our little Schischon dog got to come too!!"
