OktOBERfest at Ober

It’s that time again; Time for sizzling hot bratwurst, decadent strudel and ice cold beer. That’s right…it’s Oktoberfest. Featuring the best Bavarian style food, drink and entertainment (shy of flying straight to Germany), Oktoberfest at Ober Gatlinburg is an upbeat and festive celebration of food, fun and life. September 28th through November 4th, Ober Gatlinburg will commemorate the 202nd anniversary of the original Oktoberfest held in Munich with its own 3rd annual event.

The very first Oktoberfest (October 17, 1810) was actually the wedding celebration of Crown Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Bavaria on a meadow named Theresienwiese. At the party, guests enjoyed beer, food, music, dancing and a horse race. Each year, Ober Gatlinburg gets back to its own roots by spending the month of October eating, drinking, dancing and playing.

Each day during the celebration, The Bavarian Fun Makers Band, in authentic costumes, will perform oompah music, yodels, sing-a-longs and Bavarian folk dances. They will leave you laughing, dancing and coming back for more. Show times are as follows:

Friday, Saturday and Sunday at noon, 2, 4 and 6 pm

Monday through Thursday, 1 and 5 pm

And of course, what would Oktoberfest be without the food and beer?! Along with the traditional strudel, schnitzel, sauerkraut, German wurst and pretzels, they will also be serving special Oktoberfest Biers.

There are also plenty of other things to do at Ober Gatlinburg, including the Aerial Tramway, the Wildlife Encounter, ice skating, and skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing this winter.

Don’t miss out on the fun this October at Ober Gatlinburg. Come eat, drink and be merry!
