New Year’s Eve in Gatlinburg is lots of fun, and January can be a great time of year to visit the Smoky Mountains. Live music, fun fireworks, and great food make spending New Year’s in Gatlinburg a fun option. However, New Year’s Eve isn’t the only reason to come to Gatlinburg in January. The city has some fun activities for visitors coming to Gatlinburg at the beginning of the New Year. Here are some options for things to do during January in Gatlinburg:

Go skiing in Gatlinburg– Ober Gatlinburg opened their ski, snowboard, and tubing slopes and January is the perfect time to fit in snow sports. The snow has been falling in Gatlinburg, and skiers will get a nice visit at the snow park.

Watch an ice carving competition – The Titanic in Pigeon Forge is blowing snow from machines through January 1st and they’ll also be hosting an ice carving competition on January 22nd from 9am to 3pm. This is the perfect chance to get in some unique winter fun and entertainment. The Titanic team spent over $250,000 on their winter celebration decorations so it’ll be worthwhile to visit.

Take a trolley ride in Gatlinburg – The Gatlinburg city lights are up and will be on display throughout the month of January. The trolley ride will take you on a guided tour through the city to see the displays. The cost for the ride is $5.00.
