Gatlinburg, Tennessee is a popular
destination for travelers in the south during the 4th of
July holiday. There are several 4th of July activities
that tourists and locals love to be a part of. Naturally
visitors and locals love the fireworks and the patriotic
songs, but Gatlinburg is always trying to be a step
above the norm. Every year local organizations host an
event called the River Raft Regatta.

This event takes place in downtown Gatlinburg Tennessee
on July 4th. The event begins at the Christ in the
Smokies Bridge on River Road and ends at Ripley’s
Aquarium of the Smokies bridge. The River Raft Regatta
is open to almost anything floatable, but it would be
safe to double check the validity of your floatation
device before the race. In past races, we have seen
everything from floats made out of matchsticks to
floating rocks and rubber ducks.
If you are interested in entering the River Raft
Regatta, you can attend registration at 10:00 A.M. on
the morning of the 4th. Admission for the River Raft
Regatta is free and support for the River Raft Regatta
is from the Gatlinburg Recreation Department. For more
information regarding the River Raft Regatta call 1
(800) 568-4748 or visit the

by all!
