One of the things I most look forward to during the year is getting together with my girlfriends. We all live in different cities, so we can’t just grab lunch on a regular basis. New Year’s Eve is our typical get together. However, that usually includes the men in our lives, and as much as we love them, sometimes we just need some girl time. So, if you’re dying to get away with the girls, plan a trip to Gatlinburg where you can fill your weekend with all the things a girl loves. Check out these ideas to help with your planning:
Start with a great deal. Cabins For You has a vacation package to make your girls’ trip just a little more special. For $435, the Girlfriends Weekend in the Smoky Mountains Vacation Package will give you 2 nights (in any cabin under $100 per night), a fruit tray, and the Spirit of the Smokies gift basket.
Take a sip (or two). If you and the girls want to grab a drink, there are a few really nice places to try in and around Gatlinburg. The Smoky Mountain Winery on Cherry Street is East Tennessee’s oldest producer of premium wines. They are even open daily for free wine tasting. If you’re looking for something a bit more stout, the Ole Smoky Distillery offers free tours, tastings, and moonshine for sale. And if you want to head downtown for some drinks, food, and dancing, Dolce Uva Wine Bar is the place to go. This is Gatlinburg’s only wine bar and it offers a variety of wines and a full Italian/American menu.
Shop ’til you drop. Your first thought for a girls’ shopping trip is probably the outlet malls in Pigeon Forge. You certainly won’t want to skip them, but there is also a ton of great shopping along the Parkway. For some beautiful jewelry, visit Gemstone, then head to The Candle Cottage for some fabulous fragrances (www.candlecottage.com). Once you’re all shopped out (as if that ever happens!), make a stop by the Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen for taffy, candy apples, and dipped chocolates made fresh daily.
