While you may think of restaurants, outlet shops, dinner shows, go karts, arcades, and candy stores when you think of Gatlinburg, the city has even more to offer. If you’re looking for a place to get in some exercise or just have some fun with family and friends that’s a break from the norm, check out the Gatlinburg Community Center. Located next to Gatlinburg-Pittman High School and Rocky Top Sports World, the 52,000-square-foot facility features an indoor swimming pool, an eight-lane bowling center, a fitness area, a gym, and racquetball courts. It offers plenty of space and fun for both kids and adults. As you plan your Smoky Mountain getaway, consider heading over to the Gatlinburg Community Center for the day. You’ll find lots of things to do, whether you’re wanting to get fit, let the kids expend some energy, or just play around. If you’re a frequent visitor to the area, check out the annual passes and regular classes available. You’ll have something fun to look forward to for each of your visits!

INDOOR SWIMMING POOL

Open year-round, the indoor swimming pool offers a place to swim regardless of the weather. On those rainy days when you want to get out of the cabin, it’s a great way to pass the time. And at just a few dollars per day, it’s a budget-friendly way to spend the day. If your cabin doesn’t have a private pool or you don’t have access to a community pool, head over to the indoor swimming pool at the Gatlinburg Community Center!

The pool center also offers swim diapers and group rates (15+ people), making it easy to spend a day splashing around when you’re in town for a retreat, reunion, or large group getaway.

BOWLING CENTER

The Bowling Center offers bumper bowling for kids, shoe rentals, and lockers at an annual fee. You can even reserve some of the lanes for kids’ birthday parties! Parties include access to one to four bowling lanes, free use of bumpers, and setup of table and chairs. What a fun way to celebrate a birthday in the Smokies!

GYM & FITNESS AREA

The Tone Zone Gym offers a variety of workout options, including:

  • fitness equipment
  • classes: aerobics, tumbling, scuba diving, CPR, tap, swimming, yoga, Zumba, and more!
  • basketball leagues
  • volleyball leagues (women’s and coed)
  • disc golf
  • pickleball

The gym and fitness area offers reasonable prices for daily, monthly, and yearly use. It’s just $4 per day, $10 per month, $50 for six months, or $100 per year. Retired and disabled citizens can also enjoy discounted rates of $3, $7, $37.50, and $75, respectively. In the gym, you’ll find two regulation basketball courts for tournaments or pickup games. They can be used for other purposes by approval of the Recreation Department – just give them a call.

RACQUETBALL COURTS

Offering racquetball and wallyball, the courts offer hours of fun. You can bring your own gear or rent racquets and racquetballs. You can also purchase a card that is just $34 for 15 hours of play during open play and prime time. There is even a game area that features ping pong and billiards!

Along with the 52,000-square-foot Gatlinburg Community Center, enjoy three city parks and trout fishing in the rivers and streams find in the city. The parks offer opportunities for both groups and individuals to enjoy sports and recreation in the great outdoors, from tennis and baseball to fishing and picnicking!

Mynatt Park –Located on Asbury Lane, enjoy tennis courts, a baseball field, a basketball court, a stream where kids can fish, horseshoes, a playground, picnic tables, grills, and a covered pavilion that can be rented.

Mills Park –On Mills Park Road just off Hwy 321, Mills Park features a 9-hole disc golf course, a 400-meter track, football and softball fields, a basketball court, horseshoes, a jogging trail, a playground, picnic tables, sinks and grills, and a covered pavilion available for rent.

Herbert Holt Park –Just off the Parkway, Herbert Holt Park boasts lots of fun for those who want to cast a line in the waters of the Smokies. It features a children’s fishing stream, a trout-rearing facility, and a handicap access fishing pier. You can also rent out the covered pavilion, and you’ll have access to picnic tables, sinks and grills, a playground, horseshoes, and walking trails.
