Ober Gatlinburg is one of the most popular attractions in the area, and with winter approaching, some of its most exciting events are right around the corner. Ober Gatlinburg offers skiing, snowboarding and ice skating during the winter, and with the offering of these winter sports come some great special events. Whether you’re a board junkie or a ski fanatic, you will definitely love this next one. 36th Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade

In Gatlinburg, TN, Christmas is one of the most spectacular times of the year. Bright Christmas bulbs light up the city, and every little shop smells of cinnamon, pine, or pumpkin and spice. It is certainly the place to go if you want to experience that “traditional” Christmas. And when I think of Christmas, I can’t help but think of bundling up and venturing out into the cold for the classic Christmas parade. Of course, Gatlinburg would never disappoint in delivering all the things you love during the holidays, and its 36th Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade is no […]

39th Gatlinburg Thanksgiving Bowl

F is for fall, foliage and FOOTBALL! In the South, football reigns, and when the brisk autumn air begins to blow, that means it’s football time again. The Gatlinburg Thanksgiving Bowl Tournament returns in its 39th year this Thanksgiving holiday, with games beginning on Thanksgiving Day and playing out through Saturday. This Gatlinburg football tournament, with brackets for ages 6 through 14, is a good team building experience and a great chance for families to take advantage of a getaway to Gatlinburg while watching their sons participate in some healthy competition. Last year, teams from 10 different states participated in […]

2011 Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Holiday Show

The tradition of creating handmade work for art and function dates back almost 200 years in this region. The art community is also quite large. In fact, the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community is the largest group of independent artisans in North America. So, not only does this group have a tremendous impact on the culture of the area, it also plays a large part in drawing thousands of visitors from across the country to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge every year. The artisans of the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community have established themselves on an historic 8 mile […]

Winter Magic Kickoff and Chili Cook off

Gatlinburg in the Great Smoky Mountains is a beautiful place all year long, but wintertime in Gatlinburg is an especially delightful season. Christmas lights are being hung, and people are bustling from store to store, wrapped in their scarves and mitts, preparing for the holidays. It’s the perfect time to cuddle up next to a crackling fire in a cozy cabin, or bundle up and enjoy a nice cup of…chili. Maybe you were thinking cocoa, but chili is so much more filling! And at the Winter Magic Kickoff and Chili Cook off in Gatlinburg, delicious, hearty chili is in no […]

Smoky Mountain Winter Events

My favorite place to spend the winter is the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee! After succumbing to the cold winter air, the hospitality of a crackling fire and a kind smile warm both the body and spirit. And my family and I cannot get enough of the abundant light displays! But that’s not all that makes Gatlinburg great in the winter time! Here are a few events you may also find interesting: Trolley of Lights: For only $5.00, you can enjoy all the beautiful lights that Gatlinburg has to offer in a cozy Gatlinburg Trolley. November 9 – January 30, […]

Halloween Ideas for Kids in Gatlinburg

Haunted houses and ghost walks in Gatlinburg are a lot of fun for older kids and adults at Halloween. But if your crew includes a few tiny tots, you will probably need to find some activities that are a bit less frightening for young children. Luckily, there are lots of things to do for even the smallest ones of the family. Try some of these fun Halloween ideas that are sure to be a treat for all of your little ghosts and goblins while visiting the Smokies. Pumpkin Patches –Pumpkin carving is one of my favorite parts of Halloween. Even […]

Smoky Mountain Corn Mazes

Fall is creeping in slowly but surely! Scorching days and still-hot nights are quickly melting away into cool afternoons and breezy evenings. It will soon be time for all things pumpkin (think bread, muffins, lattes and pie!), hot chocolate and changing leaves. There are few places as beautiful as the Great Smoky Mountains in the fall, and there are few places with as many awesome seasonal things to do. Corn mazes are a popular family activity during this time of year. They are an exciting challenge for the whole family, and a great way to get out and enjoy nature! […]
