5 Reason to Stay in Your Cabin in November

Fall is a very busy time in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, etc.) are coming up soon, and people are flocking to the Great Smoky Mountains to celebrate. The city calendar is packed with events like crafts shows and food festivals, so there is no shortage of things to do in town. There are, however, plenty of reasons to stay inside! Your cozy mountain cabin will be warm and inviting, and with your family or friends around you, staying inside is a great option.

Have a movie marathon. All of our cabin rentals have TVs, and many have DVD players and large, flat screen TVs. The couches are comfortable and a warm fireplace is often nearby. Consider fixing your favorite snack, curling up on the couch and enjoying a movie marathon with the whole group. Around the holidays, pick a family favorite such as Elf, Miracle on 34th Street or How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Or put the kids to bed and watch a romantic comedy or an action packed thriller. No matter what you choose to watch (even if it’s the big game!), you will stay warm and relaxed in your Smoky Mountain cabin.

Beat the crowds. With all the people in town for events, family reunions, honeymoons and holiday vacations, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge will be very crowded. People will be bustling in and out of shops, getting a head start on holiday shopping. Road conditions can sometimes also get icy, so the Parkway and other streets will have a lot of traffic. Why bother with the crowds when you can stay inside with a hot cup of cocoa?

Watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a staple at our home on Thanksgiving. While we enjoy great food and great company, we settle down in front of the parade. It’s a great way for the whole family to get together and relax.

Cook in the cabin. Cooking in the cabin instead of going out to eat is a great option for a number of reasons. First of all, you can save money by picking up groceries on the way in and whipping up your own creations. Secondly, it’s a wonderful way for everyone to spend some quality time together. Bake some fresh chocolate chip cookies, roast your turkey or make all your favorites for breakfast. Everyone can sit down to a quiet, delicious meal without the crowds. All of our cabins are fully equipped, so you will have everything you need, such as a microwave, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee maker and more! The Apple Barn has some great pancake and biscuit mixes, or you can stop by the local supermarket (Walmart or Kroger in Sevierville, Food City).

Stay warm. It’s cold outside! Instead of bundling up and braving the cold, try hunkering down with a good book or movie in the comfort of your cabin. Curl up by the fire, take a dip in the steaming hot tub, relax in an indoor Jacuzzi tub, or just sleep in and enjoy being away from your everyday cares. Make some hot chocolate, bake some cookies and enjoy toasting your toes by the fire!
