Located in Mountain Shadows Resort, this pet-friendly, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom cabin has space to sleep up to 6 guests and plenty of amenities to help you relax and play in the Smokies. Find the comforts of home — plus lots of cabin extras — at this great Gatlinburg getaway

The entry level of Bear Necessities has a 16-foot-tall living room with a stone (gas) fireplace that stretches to the ceiling. The loft overlooking the magnificent gas fireplace features a regulation pool table, 4 barstools, 2 wingback leather chairs, and a stereo. On the 3 decks of Bear Necessities, you will find porch swings, rocking chairs, a park bench, a state-of-art gas grill with rotisserie, a picnic table, a sitting area, and an inviting private hot tub. In addition to Wi-Fi, the living room and 2 bedrooms have cable TV plus free Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. Guests will sleep in comfort with the My Pillow® mattress covers on both the king and queen beds in the cabin.

Start with the flat, paved driveway for easy arrivals before heading inside to your cozy cabin. Start mornings with a cup of coffee and wooded views in the rocking chairs on the deck. Whip up hearty breakfasts in the fully equipped kitchen, make burgers and kabobs on the gas grill, and spend sunny summer days at the resort pool. Bear Necessities is located directly across from one of the resort’s swimming pools and waterfall! At the cabin, enjoy meals at the picnic table, movies on the big screen TV with DVD player, games on the pool table, and soaks in the outdoor hot tub.

Conveniences include a washer/dryer, high-speed wireless internet so you can stay connected, an inviting gas fireplace, and a motorcycle- and camper-friendly parking area. And don’t forget — Bear Necessities is a pet friendly cabin in Gatlinburg, so you won’t have to worry about boarding your pup. From relaxing spaces to fun extras, this cabin will have you living your best mountain life!

Living Room
Open concept and spacious, the living room invites you to take it easy on your Smoky Mountain vacation. Lounge on the sofa with a DVD playing or your favorite show streaming (free Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ access) on the big screen TV. Unwind in the recliner with a beer in hand or a good book to enjoy by the gas fireplace built with lovely stacked stones. The log coffee table welcomes snacks, drinks, or a card game, and you can flip on the reading lamp for cozier evenings together with your pup curled up by your feet.

Kitchen
When you’re eager to eat, whip up a fancy feast, a quick snack, or a hearty meal in the fully equipped kitchen that boasts stainless steel appliances, a double sink, and all the tools you need to cook and serve food at the cabin. Haul ingredients from home or buy them from the local grocer in town. All the pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and utensils are provided, so you don’t have to overpack this trip! And you can always store and reheat leftovers from local eateries, like Cherokee Grill or No Way Jose’s Mexican Cantina by the river.

Dining Area
Nestled in the kitchen is the dining area that features a round table for 4, where you can sit down for meals, morning coffee, and midnight margaritas. Of course, the living room is just there with additional seating so everyone can feel comfortable at mealtimes. The dining table is also ideal for homeschooling the kids, propping open your laptop for a browse, or playing board games. 

Rec Room
For more fun, head to the loft that boasts a pool table and lovely views of the treetops. The rec room is a cool hangout space for the teens while the adults are chatting away elsewhere or a nice spot to gather everyone to spend quality time playing, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company, including the family dogs!

Bedrooms
There are 2 cozy bedrooms at Bear Necessities, and each offers a comfy place to rest with a My Pillow® mattress cover, a TV for entertainment anytime, and access to a bathroom for added convenience. The primary bedroom boasts a king-size bed and a private bathroom while the upstairs bedroom features a queen-size bed and views of the trees. There’s also a queen-size sleeper sofa in the home for the kids or other guests.

Outdoor Spaces
Arrive along a flat, paved driveway to parking for 4 vehicles (including room for a trailer) and only a few steps up to the front porch, making arrivals and departures throughout your stay easier at Bear Necessities. Views are loaded with trees at this semi-private cabin rental and offer peaceful scenery to help you relax. Enjoy the great outdoors from the porch swings, rocking chairs, and bubbly hot tub among 3 decks. There’s even a gas grill and a picnic table for fun cookouts at the cabin, and a breakfast table offers additional space to unwind in nature with a snack or a drink and a friend.

Other Amenities
At this pet-friendly cabin in Gatlinburg, your doggies will love spending time with you on vacation and enjoy taking in the new sights, smells, and sounds from the decks. There’s also a small yard space out front that’s convenient to walk your pooch to go potty. Additionally, Bear Necessities provides high speed Wi-Fi so you can stay connected when you please and a washer/dryer, perfect for reusing provided towels or washing clothes after ziplining at CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains

Community Amenities
One of Gatlinburg’s premier log cabin resorts, Mountain Shadows Resort is minutes from downtown, the main entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Rocky Top Sports World, the Gatlinburg Community Center and Library, and Pigeon Forge and Dollywood. Guests can enjoy visiting Ober Gatlinburg for skiing, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, and area attractions. Located in the heart of the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, it features paved roads, underground utilities, and city water. 

Enjoy 2 swimming pools (May 1 – Oct 1) — one is right across the street from Bear Necessities — a basketball goal, a horseshoe pit, and a pavilion. It’s not unusual for guests to see bears, elk, and other wildlife! As a guest at the cabin, you can also reserve the Resort Pavilion for weddings, family reunions, and other special events on a first-come, first-served basis.

Local Fun
About 3 miles from this 2-bedroom cabin to downtown Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, take advantage of golfing, trout fishing, mountain climbing and hiking, picnicking, and horseback riding. You’ll also be close to beautiful waterfalls, mountain streams, hiking and walking trails, great food, outlet shopping, and music and comedy shows in the area!

The nearby community center offers a large, heated swimming pool (year-round), bowling, exercise equipment, racquetball, ping pong, indoor basketball, and more for a small fee. There is also a park next door with a walking and running track!

Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community

Mad Dog’s Creamery & Donuts

Stroll through the treetops, duel zipline with a friend, let the kids go on a Bearventure, ride the first single-rail mountain coaster in the nation, and shop and dine in Firefly Village. This aerial adventure park has it all!

Resort pool access is provided and managed through the Mountain Shadows Resort Homeowners Association. Cabins for YOU is not responsible for maintenance or pool closures. Pool use is only for owners and their guests. Pools are open May 1 – October 1 for cabin guests.
