Let’s Go Swimming in the Winter, Seriously…

When you hear the word swimming, the first few things that come to mind are probably hot July days, popsicles by the pool, and cooling off in the river after a long day of having the warm sun on your back. You probably don’t think about swimming much during winter in Tennessee, except when you’re dreaming of being on a tropical island instead of bundling up for the wintry streets. But if you’re pining for a warm place to splash around, and flying to the Caribbean isn’t quite in the budget, Gatlinburg has some great places you can go.

  • A cabin with a pool – Cabins For You has some great options if you’re looking for a place to stay with your own pool. Several cabins have private indoor pools, which are great options for groups. Parents can relax, kids can play, and everyone can stay warm, safe and happy. Check out our cabins with pools to see what we have to offer!
  • Wild Bear Falls – This all-season indoor water park, the South’s largest and the country’s 5th largest, is 60,000 square feet of fun. It’s open to the public, and includes 8 newly refurbished attractions, each named after a favorite Smoky Mountain spot. Located conveniently inside the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort in Gatlinburg, Wild Bear Falls is the perfect place for a day of play for the entire family. The water park, designed specifically to allow parents to relax or play while still keeping an eye on the kids, includes a toddler pool, water slides, a lazy river, hot tubs, a swimming hole and more. There is also a snack bar, gift shop, and arcade when you’re ready to take a break from the water.
  • Gatlinburg Community Center – While the Community Center doesn’t hold all the bells and whistles of a water park, it does have a large pool with great admission prices. It’s only $2 for adults, $1.25 for kids under 12, or multiple-visit passes can be purchased. The Community Center also offers other indoor activities such as bowling and racquetball. It’s a great place to take the kids for the day without spending a lot of money. Visit their website for hours, prices, and more information.
