{"id":699,"date":"2011-09-09T17:20:22","date_gmt":"2011-09-09T17:20:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cabinsforyou.com\/blog\/?p=699"},"modified":"2026-06-25T14:56:23","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T14:56:23","slug":"september-11th-ceremony-in-gatlinburg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cabinsforyou.com\/blog\/events\/september-11th-ceremony-in-gatlinburg.htm","title":{"rendered":"September 11th Ceremony in Gatlinburg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year on September 11<sup>th<\/sup>,  thousands of ceremonies and memorials are held all across the country  for those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center attacks and  related attempts.\u00a0 This year, on  the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks, the City of Gatlinburg  will be holding a 9\/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Ripley\u2019s Aquarium of  the Smokies Plaza.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_700\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-700\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinsforyou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/freedom-tower.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-700        \" title=\"freedom-tower\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cabinsforyou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/freedom-tower.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-700\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Freedom Tower in NYC 8\/20\/11.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Beginning at 8:30AM on Sunday, this  ceremony will be led by Ripley\u2019s Entertainment Executive Terrylynn  Battson. Battson\u2019s son, Paul, was working at a building adjacent to the  World Trade Centers the day of September 11, 2001. You will listen to  Battson relay her son\u2019s frightening and memorable account of that day as  she conveys the emotions she and her son felt. You will be touched by  Battson\u2019s motherly point of view as she offers words of remembrance and  sentiments.<\/p>\n<p>The Ripley\u2019s Aquarium Plaza will be adorned in  red, white and blue as a giant American flag is hung from the windows.  The ceremony will include a message from State Senator Doug Overbey and  words from motivational speaker Carl Mays.
