Activities and events are constantly available for visitors of our beloved town in the Smoky Mountains. October of 2010 is slated to be a month of celebration of the colors of Fall. From cookouts, to decorating contests, the events in Gatlinburg during October are all centered around the beautiful season. Event planners focus on getting people out and about. We\u2019re a friendly city, and October is a month full of friendly activities.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a rundown of some of the great events in Gatlinburg set for October 2010:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gatlinburg Farmer\u2019s Market<\/strong>&#8211; This event began in early August and runs through November 20<sup>th<\/sup>. Farmers from the region come to downtown Gatlinburg and sell their crops to visitors from 8am to 11:30 am on Saturday mornings. The market is located in the parking lot of Alamo Steakhouse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ober Gatlinburg\u2019s Oktoberfest<\/strong> \u2013 Being held from October 1<sup>st<\/sup> to October 31<sup>st<\/sup>, Ober Gatlinburg\u2019s Oktoberfest celebrates the season with a Bavarian style event that includes food, drinks, and music.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ripley\u2019s Nights of Halloween at Haunted Adventure<\/strong>&#8211; Ripley\u2019s is celebrating Halloween all month long at their annual Fright Nights at their Haunted Adventure location in Gatlinburg. Attending a \u201cshow\u201d is a lot like touring a haunted house, but Ripley\u2019s beefs up the tour by adding special spooks and extra cast members during the month of October.\u00a0 The special Halloween shows will be held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights during the month of October. Children under 6 are not permitted into the show due to the graphic nature. Tickets range from $7.99 for children to $12.99 for everyone over 12 years of age.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hazzard Run- <\/strong>The Dukes of Hazzard show made General Lees cars famous during it\u2019s run on television. This is the second annual Hazzard Run. During the run, cars will be displayed in the area surrounding Cooter\u2019s Place in downtown Gatlinburg. There is no admission charge to view the cars and to visit with Ben Jones (the actor who played Cooter Davenport) and Rick Hurst (the actor who played Deputy Cletus Hott.) The actors will be available to sign autographs throughout the event.
