While I&#8217;m no master chef, I do enjoy learning to cook new things, and I particularly love working with local, fresh ingredients. Fresh ingredients make a home cooked meal even better, and buying local is great for your community. Every Saturday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am (May 19<sup>th<\/sup> through October 13<sup>th<\/sup>), the Gatlinburg Farmers Market is open to the public in the Alamo Steakhouse parking lot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cabinsforyou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/farmers-market-food.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1058\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"Farmers Market Produce\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cabinsforyou.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/farmers-market-food.jpg\" alt=\"Farmers Market Produce\" width=\"161\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>At the market, visitors and locals will find locally grown and made items including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fresh      onions, peppers, tomatoes, corn, beans, squash, and more<\/li>\n<li>Juicy      strawberries, blueberries, cherries, blackberries, and raspberries<\/li>\n<li>Sweet,      local honey<\/li>\n<li>Homemade      quilts, scarves, and sweaters<\/li>\n<li>Beautiful      handcrafted jewelry<\/li>\n<li>Hand      carved frames, furniture, and other home accessories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Gatlinburg Farmers Market is run by residents of Sevier and Cocke counties who are looking to offer local products to residents and visitors at fair prices while also stimulating the local economy. This is a really great way to support the community and get some really wonderful fresh foods and quality products. Most Saturdays, visitors to the Gatlinburg Farmers Market can browse while enjoying live music, or they can stop by the booth for the Sevier County Humane Society and take home a new best friend.
