Gatlinburg SkyBridge — Fall Viewing in the Smokies

Lush green fades to pumpkin orange, brick red, deep purple, and bright yellow across the Great Smoky Mountain landscape as summer waves goodbye. Fall in the Smokies is quite the stunning sight: pictures never do it justice! The best way to appreciate the beautiful autumn hues is to visit and view them up close and personal. Take your Smoky Mountain fall viewing a step further by soaking in the colorful array as you stroll across the Gatlinburg SkyBridge — the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America!

One & Only
Paired with the Great Smoky Mountain backdrop and charming City of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, down below, the Gatlinburg SkyBridge offers a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else. Not to mention, this pedestrian suspension bridge is the only one of its kind as the longest in North America! And with a kaleidoscope of color painting the trees, cascading across the majestic mountains, and falling onto the forest floors, autumn is the perfect time to take a memorable stroll here with family and friends.

Watch the Gatlinburg SkyBridge come to life!

Gatlinburg SkyLift Park
Located in the Gatlinburg SkyLift Park, even the journey to the Gatlinburg SkyBridge is breathtaking. Begin your sky adventure by taking the SkyLift to the tippy top of Crockett Mountain. As you travel 500 feet upwards, be sure to glance at the gorgeous and ever-changing surroundings. Downtown grows small as the colorfall mountains come into full view aboard this 3-seat chairlift newly built in 2017. Fun fact: the original SkyLift opened in 1954!

Oohs and aahs can be heard as you venture into the SkyPark, home to the SkyDeck, SkyCenter, and — of course — the SkyBridge. Head into the SkyCenter for a bite to eat at the snack bar or a souvenir from the gift shop. Upstairs you’ll find a large seating area and bar, perfect for gazing at the autumn landscape with a drink and a friend.

When you’re ready to take fall viewing up a notch, explore the SkyDeck that features multiple outdoor seating areas with panoramic views. It’s the perfect spot to stop for a gorgeous selfie or family photo with the many-hued backdrop. One area even has an outdoor firepit with seating, the perfect autumn addition.

Autumn SkyBridge Experience
NOW, it’s the moment you’ve been waiting for — time to cross the Gatlinburg SkyBridge! The first step is always the most challenging…after all, you are walking 680 feet across a suspension bridge hovering 140 feet above the ground.

Fear not! When you look around at the extraordinary landscape decorated with fall, bravery will burst forth. Once you reach the height of the journey (literally), get a birds-eye view by glancing below your feet through the glass floor portion. And don’t worry about passing guests, the bridge is 500 feet wide offering plenty of room so you can meander at your own speed.

Ah, you’ve made it to the other side where you can take in the fall scenery at your leisure. We highly recommend taking a deep breath and really reconnecting with nature; maybe say a prayer or just take a moment for yourself to soak it all in. When ready, mosey back through the fall hues, across great heights, and onto the SkyDeck. Congratulations — you’ve just crossed the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America twice!
