New Years Eve

For the 21st year in a row Gatlinburg Tennessee will be celebrating New Years Eve with a street party free for anyone to attend. Gatlinburg is a popular place to visit for New Year’s Eve celebrating. There are over 40,000 people along the Parkway in Gatlinburg TN waiting on the ball to drop. Venders will have many goodies for onlookers to purchase. There will also be party hats and noisemakers being given out. Along the Parkway you will be able to find plenty of entertainment to keep you occupied until the countdown begins. The ball will drop at the Space Needle as on lookers countdown to the new year. Enjoy the countdown with all of Gatlinburg TN and have a great memory of bringing in the New Year.

There will be a huge fireworks display to be shot off at midnight and the party will begin. Since this event will be a highly populated, most people will be arriving to the Parkway around 8:00pm, but the street party won’t start until 11:00pm. Don’t forget about all the shops around downtown Gatlinburg. Parking will be in high demand so if you have a place to park your car and walk to town it would be highly advised.

If you plan to be in attendance on New Years Eve, we highly suggest reserve a Gatlinburg cabin within close proximity of downtown Gatlinburg. Walking to town is your best bet. With this being a resort town and it being New Years Eve, please be aware that the police will be active in looking for any wrong doing.

Top Ten Light Shows

We made the list? That's right. According to Americas Best Online website, the Smoky Mountain Winterfest (including Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville) was number 4 on the list of America's best Christmas light shows. Other top ten cities included Branson MO, Lake Lanier GA, Wheeling WV, Lexington KY and Austin TX. Some honorable mentions include Virginia Beach VA, Huntsville AL and Galveston TX.

As a member of the chamber in Gatlinburg TN and being a business located in Gatlinburg, Cabins For You is thrilled that the Smoky Mountain area has recieved a recognition. We understand how hard the city of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge work to make this area such a beautiful winter display of lights. Nice to see the cities recieving acknowledgement for their hard work.

Winterfest starts in the fall and includes almost 5 million lights (including all three neighboring cities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville) displaying winter and Christmas scenes. Enjoy riding the trolley around Pigeon Forge or watch the lights parade in Gatlinburg. Winterfest is active through February.

Christmas

If all else fails and you are not able to vacation in Gatlinburg Tennessee this Christmas season you at least need to make a quick drive through Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. I know everyone does not live less than an hour from Gatlinburg, but with gas prices dropping to 5 year lows it is much easier and cheaper to travel. With gas less than $1.50 a gallon in most cities you can travel to Gatlinburg on a tank Gas from about 2/3rds of the United States. Traveling to Gatlinburg on about 20 bucks is drastically cheaper than July where it would have cost close to 80 bucks. It hasn't been this cheap to travel to Gatlinburg in almost 6 years.

If you have never been to Gatlinburg TN during Christmas it is worth your time, effort and money. I say effort because of the fact that you might have to fight some crowds and traffic. The city, most shops and restaurants are all decorated with lights and holiday decorations. Upon driving into town you will see numerous lights and a large "Welcome To Gatlinburg" sign. What a great atmosphere this quaint town creates. The winter holiday season is absolutely the best time of the year to visit Gatlinburg Tennessee if even for only one day.

Romance in Gatlinburg

Each year, couples wanting a weekend, honeymoon or anniversary getaway is probably the largest type of travelers coming to Gatlinburg Tennessee. Literally thousands of couples flock to Gatlinburg in hopes of renewing faith, rekindling love or relaxing in a private cabin with their loved ones. All to often, the person planning the trip makes a few mistakes or forgets a few tips that could make this weekend very memorable. Follow these 3 steps to help ensure your romantic getaway is perfect.

The Surprise Factor – One of the coolest things you can do for your loved one is let them know how special they are to you. Understanding that you planned a weekend getaway without your loved ones knowledge is very romantic and reminds them that you love them and care about their feelings. It is a good feeling to know that your loved one spent extra time planning a romantic weekend to surprise you. Plus, who does not like to be surprised with something every now and then.

Gift Baskets – Adding gift baskets or packages to your stay can add a lot of value and fun to your vacation. A few very popular items include dinner baskets, rose peddle baskets, picnic baskets and some variety pack gift baskets. Adding a massage in your cabin is another popular thing to do for a romantic weekend. In fact, adding a couples massage is what our reservation specialist and staff recommends.

Gatlinburg Cabins – Possibly the single biggest factor for making the romantic weekend memorable is the selection of the right cabin in Gatlinburg. Nothing can spoil a trip faster than arriving at a cabin that your loved one does not like. When choosing the right cabin make sure you keep your loved one in mind, don’t rush your decision and don’t be afraid to spend some money. Some romantic things to think about is the fireplace, the hot tub, Jacuzzi tub and master bedroom. Having a big screen TV is not on top of the list.

Making sure you follow these few tips can help add a lot of assurance to your romantic weekend. Spending extra time and a little extra money will result in a great weekend retreat. The most romantic month of the year is February because of Valentine's Day. An added bonus is February is the least visited month. Have fun!

Top 20

Every family needs a vacation. Things can get very hectic around school, work and little league. There are many places to choose from and you, as the vacationer, get the fun of deciding where to go. Two of the most popular vacation spots are the mountains and the beach. We have spent some time researching the 20 most popular reasons why you should come to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge TN as opposed to vacationing at beach.

  1. You get a view of more than just water. Yeah, water can be cool. However, have you ever woke up early to watch the sunrise over the mountains.
  2. Rent for a cabin is often cheaper than beach houses. Regardless of the property amenities, you pay an extra premium for the beach.
  3. Who really wants sand in their shorts?
  4. The weather in the mountains is not as hot. More comfortable for younger kids and the elderly.
  5. The air is less humid in the mountains.
  6. Fresh air from the mountains.
  7. You could get a secluded cabin in the mountains. Most beach property or condo property is very populated.
  8. You can go skiing and snowboarding available at Ober Gatlinburg.
  9. Mountain streams and rivers. Great for fishing.
  10. You can’t truly enjoy the beach during the winter.
  11. Mountain scenery provides more of a photographic backdrop.
  12. Hiking, biking, camping, and climbing.
  13. You can explore the mountains. The Smoky Mountains have more than 800 miles of hiking.
  14. Instead of wild parties at the beach you get wild animals in the mountains.
  15. The possibility of snow.
  16. No need to tan for a mountain vacation.
  17. No need to buy a new bikini.
  18. More family oriented things to do.
  19. By renting a cabin you avoid the noisy neighbors above or below your condo/hotel room.
  20. The mountains are more family oriented environment than the beach.

Of course, the choice is ultimately yours. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge TN are within driving distance for two thirds of the United States. You could save money as well by driving to the mountains. Once you’ve made your choice that a trip to the mountains is the way to go call Cabins For You to plan your vacation today. You can speak to one of our reservation specialist at 1-800-684-7865.
