4th of July in Gatlinburg

Going to Gatlinburg for the July 4th holiday? Then you should join the approximately 95,000 other people as they watch the Midnight Independence Day Parade. Get ready and comfortable on July 3rd and at the stroke of midnight the parade begins. There will be a tribute to all branches of the military, performers, huge helium balloons, etc. You'll have fun watching no matter your age. This year is the 33rd time Gatlinburg Tennessee has done the Midnight Independence Day Parade. This year is supposed to be the best one yet!

Don't be too late though. The streets will be shut down while the parade takes place. There will be pre-parade entertainment going on all over the streets and once the stroke of midnight hits get ready for the best part. There will be huge helium balloons in the shapes of stars (red, white and blue of course), and a patriotic eagle, trains, Alphonso the dragon, Humpty Dumpty (before he fell off the wall), etc. The kids will love it! Volunteers will be guiding these huge balloons through the streets so give them a shout too! There will be hundreds of floats sponsored by local shops. The fun doesn't end with the parade though. On into the daytime of July 4th there will be river rafting where you can make a boat out of anything (except balls and plastic eggs) and send it floating down the river. Make sure you register your float though, this is a race to see who makes the best float and whose will actually make it down the river. Fun, food and festivities will be going on all around Gatlinburg Tennessee.
