Vacation Contest Runner-UpsWritten Contest - October 2007 It was the weekend of my wife Diana’s
50th birthday and I knew I needed to do something
special. I went online and found
Poolin’ Around – the perfect solution! I set up an
extravagant weekend, complete with presents, dinner
reservations and more. But as soon as we walked in the
cabin (I had her close her eyes) and showed her the
indoor pool I knew I needed nothing else. We enjoyed the
pool/spa almost continuously, taking breaks for food &
drink. We visited the winery and then sat on the creek
bank and enjoyed our wine with a French loaf, grapes and
cheese. I used the big-screen and DVD for a couple of
showings of old favorites – “Casablanca”, “The Four
Seasons”, “Some Like It Hot”, complete with popcorn and
candy. I gave Diana a variety of small gifts, each a
symbol of her years on earth and our years together. And
we always ended up back in the pool, enjoying a glass of
wine and each other. Each night was capped off with
sleep in the incredible bed with its amazing sheets and
comforters. We enjoyed our last leisurely breakfast by
the creek on Sunday morning before we headed back to
reality. And we laughed all the way home about her
“Green” hair – the effect of the pool on her hair color.
We agreed – after 20+ years of marriage, our weekend at
Poolin’ Around was the best three days we had spent
together. We have since stayed in other cabins, but have
never topped the experience of the private indoor
pool/spa. Thanks, Cabins For You! Our Labor Day weekend in Gatlinburg
TN Tina Cabins For You ... Our Vacation
Story. We were going to go to Disneyland for spring
break, but decided on Gatlinburg after finding a great
cabin,
Bird Haven on www.cabinsforyou.com. We were thrilled
to find a cabin that could accommodate our large group
(we had six adults and seven kids!). This place even had
an indoor heated pool and a hot tub outside overlooking
the mountains! Plus, Gatlinburg was driving distance
away! (Here we come!) When we arrived at Bird Haven, we
threw our luggage in the rooms and headed straight for
the pool. Max, our three year old, learned to swim a
short distance – with his eyes wide open underwater.
While the kids enjoyed the pool, the adults hung out in
the hot tub. The kids would run back and forth between
the pool and the hot tub. They’d get warm in the hot
tub, then run back down to the pool for a swim. While on
vacation, we had an Easter dinner, celebrated Lucy’s
fifth birthday on the patio with a Sponge Bob cake, and
gave Jack (our four year old) a mohawk! The second best
thing about our vacation was staying in a cabin where we
were surrounded by the natural beautiful scenery of
Gatlinburg TN. The best part was spending time together
as a family! |
