Here are the official rules:

Our reservationists are on Eastern Standard Time and will use this clock to determine the winner: Official Time and Date

Understand that at any one time, there are no more than three reservationists answering phone calls. When you call for the Flash Sale, you may be placed on hold or our phones may be so overloaded that you may be forwarded to voicemail. Please extend patience and be courteous to our hard-working reservationists!

We accept the winning caller and place the next three following calls on hold – this ensures that if the first, second, or third caller backs out, that the person who receives the Flash Sale was still the closest to the designated time!

Early calls are not accepted – in order to win, you must call at the designated time or later.

Reservations must be made at the time of call – you may not place our call on hold nor call us back!

Payment must be ready and accepted at the time of the call.

We will not offer refunds to winners.

There is a limit to number of times one person can win – no more than five times in a one year period. Please allow all of our fans to get a shot at nabbing one of our deals!

We offer Flash Sales on pet-friendly cabins. An additional one-time of fee of $50 per pet will be applied towards total price.

Stipulations are as follows:

You must sign and return a reservation agreement before check-in.

No pets (unless the cabin is pet-friendly and the pet fee is paid.)

No smoking. (All of our cabins are non-smoking)

Flash Sale prices cannot be applied towards different dates.

The sleeping limit for each cabin is expected to be acknowledged and respected.

We ask that our winners snap a few photographs of their stay and share them on our Facebook wall so the rest of our fans can enjoy!

We also ask that winner leave a positive and accurate review of the cabin on our FlipKey site: Cabins For You – FlipKey

Frank B. Walkup was raised in Woodbury, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2005. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Infantry and was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii after his graduations from Airborne, Air Assault, and Ranger Schools. In the summer of 2006, he was deployed as a platoon leader to Iraq. On June 16, 2007, Frank B. Walkup was killed by an improvised explosive device that detonated near his position during a dismounted patrol.

Walkup and all the men and women who have given their lives in the line of duty are honored each year at Gatlinburg’s Mountain Man Memorial March. The march will begin April 21st at 9 am in front of the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Gatlinburg and will continue up Highway 321 to Pittman Center. This 26.2 mile march includes stretches of highway, rural roads, rugged terrain and mountain slopes. Three entry categories are available: Military Heavy, Military Light, and Civilian. Entrants may also register for half and quarter marathon distances.

Inspired by the Bataan Memorial Death March in White Sands, New Mexico, this march has become a tribute to all service members. Thousands travel to Gatlinburg each year for this event. The UT Army ROTC conceived this event to show appreciation for the servicemen and women who have sacrificed so much by challenging people to walk a mile (or 26.2) in their shoes. The motto of the event is “Support the Future, Honor the Past.”

Festivities will begin on Friday, April 20th, with a ceremony honoring East Tennessee Gold Star Mothers at the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies plaza. In addition to the march, the Road March for Warriors (RM4W) will hold a motorcycle rally to show support for the event. These veterans serve as liaison between the Gold Star Mothers and the University of Tennessee Rocky Top Battalion.

For information about registration, entry fees, courses, and categories, visit www.mountainmanmemorialmarch.com, call 865-974-8101, or email emailus@mountainmanmarch.com.

While many think that Gatlinburg is just a destination for couples and families, it’s actually also a great place for guys. There are plenty of things to do around town and in the mountains, and this spring, Gatlinburg’s calendar is packed full of activities perfect for dads, sons, or old college buddies. Here are just a few things going on in Gatlinburg right now:

Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament – From April 7th through 8th, over 10,000 trout will be stocked in over 20 miles of local streams for the 13th Annual Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament. With prizes for largest and smallest trout and divisions for locals, tourists, adults, and children, this is a great way for father and son to spend the weekend!

Ribfest, Wings & BBQ – It has many times been said, The key to a man’s heart is through his stomach. So, what better way for a man to fulfill one of his great desires than to chow down at a festival completely dedicated to man’s favorite foods? For the 11th year in a row, Gatlinburg will be hosting the Ribfest, Wings & BBQ festival downtown. From 5 to 9 pm on April 26th, guests can enjoy unlimited sampling (with the purchase of a wristband) of delicious food, including hot wings with flavors such as, “Treacherous Tongue,” “Scorching Screaming,” and “Blazing Bomb.” There will also be a hot wing eating contest, the “Vermonster Ice Cream Eating Contest,” and live music. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Gatlinburg Hospitality Association’s educational scholarship fund, so it will be a great time with great food for a great cause.

GFA Fit For Duty 5K Run/Walk – This race, hosted by the Gatlinburg Firefighter’s Association, is a great opportunity for all the guys to test their skills. There are multiple categories, including the Firefighter Challenge, and proceeds will be used to buy workout equipment for local firefighters in order to promote cardiac health.

For many, Easter Sunday is a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. It also marks the end of the celebration of Lent, which is a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance. Easter Sunday is also connected to the Jewish Passover through much symbolism. Each year, the Gatlinburg Ministerial Association holds a worship service for those who wish to celebrate this day. With the backdrop of the awe-inspiring Smoky Mountains, visitors and community members can gather for an Easter Sunday worship service at Ober Gatlinburg.

The service will be about 30 to 40 minutes long on April 8, 2012, and will be led by local pastors of the Gatlinburg Ministerial Association. An offering will also be collected during the service which will be used by the Gatlinburg Ministerial Association in assisting needy families and individuals throughout the county. This Easter Sunday service will be a truly beautiful and moving Easter experience for anyone wishing to spend the day in prayer, reflection, and worship.

As host, Ober Gatlinburg will offer free tram rides to the top of the mountain. Rides will begin at 5:15 am and will continue in 15 minute intervals until the service begins. For those who wish to drive up the mountain, complimentary parking will be available at the Ober Gatlinburg resort. Beginning at 6:00 am, there will also be a breakfast buffet available at Ober Gatlinburg with french toast, an omelet station, pancakes, potatoes, biscuits, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, and many more options.

Year round, the Great Smoky Mountains are a beautiful place to be. They are truly the picture of the “great outdoors,” and they are the perfect backdrop for all the wonderful activities that go along with warm spring days. As spring approaches, those who enjoy swimming, rafting, hiking, camping, and fishing can look forward to many great events in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge areas. One of the most popular events this year is sure to be the 13th Annual Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament.

Each year, this tournament gathers locals, visitors, families, and outdoor enthusiasts together for a weekend of fun, fish, and friendly competition. Prior to this April 7th and 8th event, over 10,000 trout will be stocked in over 20 miles of streams in the Great Smoky Mountains. This tournament is open to all ages and talent levels, and has divisions for adults, children, tourists and locals. This is a great opportunity for father and son to spend a couple of days together, or for the whole family to spend a weekend splashing around and fishing for fun.

This is the largest trout tournament in the Smoky Mountains, and organizers will stock streams with different size trout, from small to large, so everyone will have a chance at a catch. Some of the prizes for the divisions and categories include:

$500 for the largest trout

$500 for the smallest trout

Gift certificates

Trophies

Restaurant and hotel vouchers

Amusement park passes, and more!

In all, there will be over $10,000 worth of cash and prizes available, so the tournament is sure to be fun, challenging, and rewarding for everyone involved. Even if you don’t go home with a prize, it will certainly be an exciting weekend, and the views will be incredible. If you want to get in on the fun, you can register by phone, mail, or online.

The Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community is an 8 mile loop of shops, studios, cafes, and galleries located just 3 miles from downtown Gatlinburg. It was established in 1937 and it is now a booming and incredibly important part of the Great Smoky Mountains area. The loop has even been designated a Tennessee Heritage Arts and Crafts Trail. Throughout the community, visitors will meet artisans who create handmade quilts, baskets, stained glass, pottery, jewelry, dolls, ceramics, clothing and watercolors. The work of these artisans has become a great part of the culture of the Great Smoky Mountains, and you can find some really amazing pieces on a visit here.

Coming up April 4th through 7th, this group of artisans will be hosting the Great Smoky Easter Arts and Crafts Show at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Unique products will be available to buy, and guests may also enjoy many demonstrations of woodworking, basket weaving, and more. Admission is free, so this is a great event for the family. Kids and adults will enjoy spending several hours browsing the aisles of handmade items.

Here are just a few of the booths you might find at this year’s Easter show:

A Troll in the Park: Arensbak Smoky Mountain Trolls (Danish family folklore); Erik Arensbak

Many believe that spring is the most beautiful time of the year in the Great Smoky Mountains, and I must say, I agree. For those of you who have given your hearts to the changing leaves of fall and the brisk autumn air, consider the following wonderful intricacies of spring, and know that you can have more than one love when it comes to the Great Smoky Mountains.

As spring arrives in the Smoky Mountains, waterfalls once again rush onto rocks below, daffodils and pansies come out of hiding, and birds begin singing their sweet songs. Bare, woody mountainsides morph into lush, green vistas, and the wildlife (the bears, deer and more) begin stretching and emerging from their winter hideaways.

There is no doubt that spring is a really magical time of the year in the Smoky Mountains, so it is no surprise that the city of Gatlinburg celebrates the season in a big way. Beginning in early March and ending the first week of June, SpringFest is a 3 month string of events and festivals hosted by local merchants and the Gatlinburg Department of Tourism. Much as they do during Christmas, the streets of Gatlinburg transform, but this time, with flowers. Tulips, mandevillas, lantanas, and wave petunias are just a few of the beautiful blooms you’ll see cascading over baskets along the streets, and many days you will find live entertainment as you stroll the Parkway. Below are a few things that will be going on during SpringFest.

Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Easter Show – Gatlinburg Convention Center, April 4th -7th

Easter Sunrise Service – Ober Gatlinburg, April 8th at 6:30 am

Gatlinburg’s Ribfest & Wings – April 26th, downtown Gatlinburg

Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage – Great Smoky Mountains National Park, April 24th – 28th

Whether you’re coming to Gatlinburg for a special event, or you just can’t stay away for too long, spring is certainly an incredible time to visit the Great Smoky Mountains.

Each day, people across the world rely on firefighters to keep them safe. These public servants undergo rigorous training in order to better protect the public. They put out fires, respond to car accidents, and many times, save lives. They also often give fire prevention and safety talks to schools and communities. Firefighters give a lot to the community on a daily basis. On March 31st, locals and visitors of Gatlinburg, TN, have the opportunity to give a little bit back.

This spring, the Gatlinburg Firefighter’s Association will host its first annual GFA Fit For Duty 5K Run/Walk. The race will begin at 9 am at the Gatlinburg Fire Department St.1. The event is open to the public, and there will be multiple categories in which to participate. Categories include the

Firefighter Challenge, the 5K Run/Walk, and the Special Clydesdale Division (for participants over 220 lbs.). Rain or shine, firefighters and civilians will run, walk, or jog this course for a great cause.

The Fit For Duty race is intended to bring awareness about improving cardiac health. Cardiac disease is actually the number one killer of firefighters, so all proceeds will be used to buy workout equipment for the Gatlinburg Fire Department in order to improve and promote cardiac health. Along with the race, a silent auction will also be held.

For those looking for some healthy competition, this is a great event. Awards include fire hydrant trophies for the top 3 overall male and female finishers in the 5K Run/Walk, medals for the top 3 in each age division, a trophy for the first place finisher in the Firefighter Challenge, and a trophy for the first place finisher in the Special Clydesdale Division.

This event is open to everyone (children and jogging strollers are welcome), and it will raise money for some very deserving people. For more information, visit www.gatlinburgfire.org.

GFA Mission Statement

The primary objective for the organization is to maintain an excellent relationship between the citizens and visitors of the city of Gatlinburg, the Gatlinburg Firefighter’s Association and its membership. The objective will be achieved through fire prevention and fire education programs designed with the community and membership interests in mind.

There is so much to do in Gatlinburg, Tennessee! There are uniquely entertaining shows, shops galore, and dining for miles. But what if you’ve seen all the shows you can handle, have stuffed yourself until you ache, and care nothing about going shopping with the girls? Wanna play golf?

I do not mean on a silly looking course with clowns and tunnels, in fact I don’t have miniature golf in mind at all. I mean real golf. Beautiful rolling greens, the relaxing quiet of athletes concentrating on their swing, and the swoosh of a club, followed by the soft kerplunk of a hole-in-one.

Bent Creek Golf Course is a par 72 course. It was designed forty years ago by the three time Masters and British Open Champion Gary Player. It is a beautiful course with a laid-back first nine wrapping along the valley floor. The back nine introduces a mountainous challenge! There is a consistent source of calmness wafting from the mountain stream that is a constant presence. Bent Creek Golf Course was rated on of the top fifty golf courses in the South in Southern Living Magazine!

Besides a wonderful course, you will also find a full-service golf shop, the Creek Side Grill, a PGA staff, and golf lessons at Bent Creek Golf Resort. The fee is $45.00 for 18 holes and $25.00 for 9 holes Sunday through Thursday. Friday through Saturday the fee is $50.00 for 18 holes and $27.00 for 9 holes.

Bent Creek Golf Course is located at 3919 East Parkway, Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They can be reached at 865-436-3947 or 1-800-251-9336. The can also be reached by e-mail at bentcreekgc@yahoo.com.

Gatlinburg Golf Course is another beautiful golf course located just five minutes from downtown Gatlinburg! This course was designed by William Langford. In 2007, it was renovated by Bob Cupp & Associates of Atlanta. This scenic course is said to be one of the most picturesque courses in America, because there are amazing views of the Great Smoky Mountains at every hole. And in 2009, Golf Digest rated Gatlinburg Golf Course as Tennessee’s Best Muny Course!

There is more than just a beautiful golf course offered by the people at Gatlinburg Golf. They have options for dining as well as entertainment just minutes away from the actual course.

Prices are as follows and include a cart with the 18 hole fee:

December –March

Before Noon: $60

Noon – 4pm: $50

After 4pm: $40

9-hole fee: $30

April – May & November

Before Noon: $55

After Noon: $45

9 – Hole Fee: $30
