June kicks off with some very fun things to do and this year something new is coming to town. This year Gatlinburg is proud to announce that the 2010 Old Reel Collectors Associations (ORCA) National Conference is coming to town during June 3 through June 5, 2010.

You are probably asking what the Old Reel Collectors Association, Inc. is. It is a large group of over 800 fishing reel collectors from the United States and at least eight foreign countries. Each year the Old Reel Collectors Association, Inc. holds an annual convention and this year they have picked Gatlinburg Tennessee for their annual convention. The convention held by The Old Reel Collectors Association is different from others in the fact that this is a convention for fishing tackle collectors. The conventions that are held by the Old Reel Collectors Association holds its conventions where the members can take part in the antique tackle casting, fishing tournaments, group meals, special seminars and can view quality displays. They can also buy, sell and, or trade items.

It may seem like the Old Reel Collectors Association convention is only for members but this year one of the feature events will happen on Saturday, June 5 where there is an exhibit and show that is open and free to the public. Bring your own antique tackle to the exhibit and you can receive free appraisals to see how much your stuff is worth. This exhibit will give you an up close and personal look at some rare fishing reels. Catch some shows at the exhibit and see just how antique your reel could be. The 2010 Old Reel Collectors Association National Conference will be held at the The Lodge at Buckberry Creek in Gatlinburg.
