Gatlinburg Celebrates New Year’s Eve with Fireworks & Family Fun

It’s time to kick that quiet night at home to the curb, stop watching the ball drop on television, and be there, in person, for one of the most exciting nights in the Smoky Mountains! Surrounded by the millions of holiday lights and the Christmas cheer resonating from December, gather in the Smokies to make the very first moments of 2018 intoxicatingly joyful.

Whether it’s around the Space Needle in Gatlinburg, by the show fountain at The Island in Pigeon Forge, or at an intimate gathering with family and friends on the back deck of your Cabins for YOU cabin, the Smoky Mountains is a divine location for the beginning of your year to set a sensational tone for the next 12 months! There is a New Year’s Eve celebration for everyone; bring your family or travel with a special someone to celebrate a beautiful year together and toast to another fantastic year in 2018. Here are 5 ways to start the year out right in the Smoky Mountains:

  1. Kid’s Noon Year’s Eve Party

The Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge offers a fun version of the adult midnight New Year’s Eve party for the younger crowds! For only $10 for kids 12 and under and $28 for adults, your little ones can meet Alice and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, tour the RMS Titanic, and watch an exciting balloon drop at noon! You can even let your kids wear their pajamas to this party for the full effect of staying up late and ushering in the new year (or get festive with New Year’s Eve apparel). You are more than welcome to buy your tickets on Sunday, December 31, but reserved pre-sale tickets are available online and recommended.
  2. Gatlinburg’s Midnight Ball Drop
Snag your New Year’s midnight kiss under the starry, light-filled skies above the Gatlinburg Space Needle for the most magical moment of this year and a romantic way to begin the next! At the intersection of Parkway and Historic Nature Trail, thousands of Smoky Mountain visitors gather around the Gatlinburg Space Needle for an exciting New Year’s Eve party with a live DJ and platinum country music artist Beau Braswell and Cassidy Diana.

At 10:00 p.m., the live concert kicks off as the extravagant neon lights of the Gatlinburg Space Needle light the evening sky. As the midnight hour grows closer, the ball lowers to commence the new year and the magnificent, multicolored fireworks show launched from over 400 feet in the air at the top of Gatlinburg’s most notable architectural structure!

  3. The Island in Pigeon Forge New Year’s Eve Celebration
With FREE admission and FREE parking, The Island in Pigeon Forge is a perfect affordable family-friendly New Year’s Eve party. At 8:00 p.m., the live DJ invites everyone to the dance floor to end 2017 on a great note! On the Ole Smoky Moonshine stage, country music artist Jackie Lee will serenade fellow party attendees at 10:45 pm. Grab your little ones or hold that special someone’s hand as The Island recaps memorable moments from the year before the big fireworks show finale in the air above the neon lights of The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel.
  4. New Year’s Eve Concert at the Hard Rock Café
Skip the larger crowds and end 2017 with live music, good food, and drinks from the bar at the Hard Rock Café New Year’s Eve celebration in Pigeon Forge! This is a great option if you don’t have kids and want to enjoy more of an adult setting for a New Year’s Eve party. The Kincaid Band will be serenading the crowd while you mix and mingle with other Smoky Mountain visitors who are less excited about fireworks and more excited for live music and drinks!
  5. Awesome Cabin Party
Whether you are vacationing with the family or with a large group, Cabins for YOU can supply you with the right size cabin for your own private, hassle-free New Year’s Eve party! Don’t worry about driving home in the crowds following the fireworks show, just book one of our cabins with mountain views near Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and enjoy the show from a distance and only a few steps from the comfort of your bedroom. Enjoy cocktails and beer from the wet bar as the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop plays on the large flatscreen TV of your cabin’s game room. Easily set up an impressive snack bar along the spacious counter in the kitchen for guests to visit while mingling and celebrating another great year with good friends.
  6. Celebrate the ending of one year and the start of another in the Smoky Mountains with fireworks, balloons, and millions of holiday lights! Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are undoubtedly some of the most incredibly beautiful settings to create memories during New Year’s Eve 2017!
