There are tons of things to do while visiting the Great Smoky Mountains. In fact, so much that it would be impossible to do it all in one visit. That’s why I am utterly amazed that they thought of more great things to add! Here are the newer attractions for you to check out this summer.
Motown Comes to Town: The former “Eastern Shanghai Theater” on the Parkway has undergone a transformation. June 21, 2012, is the opening day for Pigeon Forge’s new show with a Motown feel. This show will feature an eight-to-ten piece band with horns! You ain’t seen nothin’ like this in Pigeon Forge before!
WonderWorks’ Balloon Ride: WonderWorks is building a tethered hot air balloon behind their building. The 105 foot balloon will be illuminated at night. The helium balloon will carry its passengers 400 feet into the air for a new way to view the cityscape and the Great Smoky Mountains.
Hollywood Wax Museum: You may have noticed that the old Hollywood Wax Museum that was on the Parkway in Gatlinburg has closed. The new Hollywood Wax Museum is now open in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where the Dinosaur Walk Museum was previously located. The new museum takes up 30,000 square feet!
Behind the Scenes Titanic Movie Exhibit: The Titanic Museum has a new exhibit. In anticipation of James Cameron’s Titanic being re-released in 3D, this exhibit will follow the story of Jack and Rose from a new angle – the Director’s Chair. There will also be props, costumes, scripts, and other valuable collectibles from the film! This is not to be missed!
Dollywood’s Wild Eagle: If you are a rollercoaster enthusiast, you will certainly not want to miss this. Dollywood has brought America its first winged coaster! This ride is going to be incredible!
Smoky Mountain Opry: Miracle Theater is no more. Pigeon Forge proudly welcomes Smoky Mountain Opry. This 1,700-seat theater is one of the largest venues in Pigeon Forge. Shows here will feature talented singers, musicians, and dancers performing your favorite country songs.
