Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

At Cabins For You, we know how important teamwork is. If it weren’t for every member of our team – maintenance, housekeeping, accounting, reservations, marketing, owner relations, customer service, and more – we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

Cabins For You is a company with a lot of moving parts, and that requires a lot of people working hard. But at Cabins For You, we’re also a family. We love spending time together, yes – even outside of work, and we love finding new ways to make Cabins For You even better for our guests and owners.

That’s why we frequently have team-building exercises and trips. Sometimes we drive go karts or play arcade games, while other times we participate in conferences where we can learn so much more about our industry.

Our most recent team-building weekend in Pigeon Forge was all about fun. A little bit of the outdoors and a lot of something challenging, our weekend was made up of a fun afternoon soaring through the trees at Smoky Mountain Ziplines and a challenging morning trying to make it out in time at The Escape Game at The Island.

The Escape Game Pigeon Forge

Teamwork is pretty simply defined in its name. It’s working together, as a team, to accomplish something. At The Escape Game in Pigeon Forge, we faced the ultimate team challenge. Our big group split into two, tackling (or attempting to) Prison Break and The Heist.

If you’ve ever traveled with a big group (or coworkers), you know that it’s almost impossible to please everyone. But at The Escape Game, every single one of us left raving and planning another trip! So, here’s how it goes:

Each challenge can have anywhere from 2 to 8 players. You and your teammates have 1 hour to complete the challenge, whether it’s breaking out of prison or stealing a priceless piece of art before the actual thief does. Throughout the game, you’ll get hints to help you along. The rooms are filled with clues, codes, locks, and more. You have to work as a team to figure out what’s relevant and how to use the clues you find.

What does it take? The Escape Game says…

  • Strategic thinking
  • Bravery
  • Leadership
  • Tactile interaction
  • Puzzle solving
  • Detective skills
  • Teamwork!

With so many skills involved, it’s an awesome experience for teams. But it’s also perfect for families and friends. Even if you’re not traveling with a group, you can join an escape game with new people and really get out of your comfort zone!

At The Escape Game Pigeon Forge, you’ll have 4 different challenges to choose from. In Gold Rush, you’ll be trying to beat the mob of gold prospectors to a stash of gold. In The Heist, you must “steal” a famous masterpiece before the real criminals can get to it. Classified will take you on a covert mission to fight terrorism, and Prison Break will have you racing against the clock to escape a life sentence in prison.

Will you escape in time? Our reservations team made it out with just minutes left to spare, but the marketing team suffered the fate of a life in prison…

Smoky Mountain Ziplines and Canopy Tours
At Smoky Mountain Ziplines, we met in the base-camp building where we got hydrated with complimentary drinks, grabbed some Smoky Mountain Ziplines t-shirts, and starting getting geared up for the day. Our guides, Adam “Pooh Bear” and Alan, put on our harnesses, helmets, and gloves before giving us some tips for the tour.

We rocked on the huge front porch while the rest of our group got ready, and then the 6×6 all-terrain military truck was ready to take us for the ride up the mountain. And while the main attraction is the zip lines, the 6×6 ride is an adventure all itself! Lots of laughter ensued as we gripped tightly and bumped up the mountainside, getting our group off to a great start.

We started with the easiest line to get the hang of it, and then we swiftly made our way along faster, higher, and longer lines along the tour. It was a rush to fly through the trees and a hoot to watch some of our…more nervous…team members scream with delight along the way. “Pooh Bear” and Alan kept us laughing, helping turn all our nerves into excitement.

We grabbed some complimentary drinks while we did a bit more shopping and looked at our pictures from the day, and then we headed out with plenty of stories to tell! With awesome mountain views, great spring weather, fun (but experienced) guides, and the company of our Cabins For You team, we had an awesome team experience!
